NSCA Announces Nominees for the 2012 Awards

24-April-2012 – The Nova Scotia Curling Association is proud to announce the nominations for the 2012 NSCA Awards. The nominees, brought forward by the curlers, coaches, and administrators of the sport, reflect the best in Nova Scotia curling during the 2011-2012 season.

Topping the 2012 list with 3 nominations is Team Stuart Thompson, with nominees in Team of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year categories.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2012 an 8-ender was scored at the 14 Wing Greenwood Curling Club. During the Tuesday Night League. The team of Jill LeBlanc-Pastuck, Donna Peters, Patsy Rawding, and Debbie Walker accomplished the historic feat.

On Sunday, February 19, 2012 an 8-ender was scored at the Lunenburg Curling Club. During the Lunenburg Youthspiel. The team ofAmanda Jessome, Jenna Mosher, Sarah Mosher and Libby Mosher accomplished the historic feat.

Canada Games Introspiel

The first of two introductory spiels for athletes interested in taking part in the 2015 Canada Winter Games play downs is scheduled for Chester Curling Club on March 30th to April 1, 2012.

As the initial event of the NSCA’s 2015 Canada Games Plan, Introspiel I is open to all athletes who meet the age requirement.* Athletes can register individually or as a team. This is an identification spiel so an athlete can choose to register as an individual player and he/she will be placed on a team by the organizers of the event.

Vision-impaired curlers win bronze at national championship

SYDNEY — A group of local curlers has reason to celebrate after placing third in a national competition.

Six vision-impaired women and their coaches recently returned home with bronze medals from the AMI Canadian Vision Impaired Curling Championship in Ottawa, Ont., which is held each year in early February during White Cane Week.
