Junior Development Programs
Little Rockers Programs
Modified programs for curlers between 6-11 years of age. Some programs may use actual little rocks while others have adapted the sheet length and use regulation rocks. New in 1999, a full size junior rock which is only half the regulation weight.
Junior Curling Programs
Designed for curlers between 12-20 years of age. Curlers are provided both recreational and competitive opportunities regardless of age, gender or skill level.
Note: Per Capita Fees must be paid for a Junior or Little Rocker to be eligible to participate in any NSCA sanctioned events.
Getting Started in Curling
Is a multi-faceted introduction-to-curling program, offering a wide variety of resources to assist instructors and program organizers in getting young people into the sport. The program has been designed for curling clubs, schools and community groups.
NS Skill Achievement Award Program
Designed to provide an opportunity to attain proficiency in the skills of curling on an individual basis. The program is a five level series of tests, referred to as: Red, Blue, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The appropriately colored crest is awarded for successful completion of each level. A fee is charged for each testing level.
Youth Skills Clinics
Designed to assist a new or struggling junior program with a one day basic instructional clinic for junior curlers between 12-18 years of age with less than two years experience with regulation rocks. A registration fee is charged for each participant which includes lunch and a t-shirt.
Junior Development Camp
Designed for individual curlers between 12-18 years of age with at least two years experience with regulation rocks.
The goal of the Camp is to provide a fun environment that will reinforce the basic skills as well as introducing new skills / concepts to the participant.
A registration fee is charged for each participant which includes all meals and a t-shirt.
Last year's participants who are eligible for this year's camp will be mailed information and an entry form in August. Other interested curlers can obtain an entry form in August from their club's Junior Director or the NSCA Office.
