Club Development Resources

Tip Of The Week

The new currency is time not money.

Many People are asking how long will it take not how much it will cost. So, have a form prepared outlining to potential customers what they can expect for their investment. Explain the benefits of membership and the value they will receive for being with your curling club. Put this list of benefits on your website and up at your club. Make sure if you say your going to do something for a new customer (a benefit of membership), do it! Examples of benefits: fitness, friendship, instruction, free parking

Business of Curling

The Business of Curling® program is a three step process designed to help curling clubs understand the business they are in. Curling clubs are experiencing a variety of problems adapting to this constantly changing environment. Meeting the challenge of survival in the marketplace has prompted them to adopt selected management tools from the private sector. Curling clubs are turning to marketing as a means of providing their customers with improved products and services.

CCA Curling Development Fund

The Canadian Curling Association, under its event management system for the Brier, Tournament of Hearts (beginning in 2002), and Canadian Curling Trials (every four years), has committed 10% of net profits from these events to promote and develop grassroots curling through the establishment of the CCA Curling Development Fund. The Fund is accessible to curling clubs in Canada and the membership of the CCA.

Note: The Development Fund is suspended for 2007 and will return in 2008 with a deadline for submission of June 6, 2008

Refrigeration Action Program

The Refrigeration Action Program for Buildings (RAPB) has the goal of implementing several types of technologies in new or renovated buildings. The strategy proposed is on two fronts: convincing three levels of decision-makers (corporate managers, appraisers, and developers), and directing action towards the most receptive markets. Intervention in identified markets is necessary because there is a general lack of information on these technologies, and a need to develop the competencies necessary for their design, installation, and development.
